Product Composition
Typically made with water-based cleansing solution, cellulose fibres, mild cleansing agents, moisturising ingredients, preservatives, and light fragrance depending on the variant. Andrex hygiene wipes are designed to be dermatologically tested and pH balanced for gentle skin use.
Uses / Indications
Used as moistened toilet tissue wipes for children to help:
- Improve cleanliness after toilet use
- Provide a fresher feeling compared with dry tissue alone
- Offer gentle cleansing for sensitive skin
- Support toilet training and personal hygiene routines
These wipes are commonly used alongside regular toilet paper rather than as a complete replacement. Some Andrex variants are biodegradable and marketed as flushable when used responsibly.
Direction of Use
- Use after normal toilet tissue if desired
- Wipe gently and dispose according to packaging instructions
- Some packs advise flushing no more than 1–2 wipes at a time where permitted
Side Effects
Generally well tolerated. Possible effects include:
- Mild irritation in very sensitive skin
- Sensitivity to fragrance or preservatives
- Dryness or discomfort if overused
Warnings / Interactions
Avoid contact with eyes. Discontinue use if irritation or rash develops. Keep pack sealed after use to prevent wipes from drying out.
Important Flushability Note
Although marketed as “flushable,” many plumbers and wastewater experts advise limiting or avoiding flushing wipes because they may contribute to plumbing blockages or sewer problems, especially in older plumbing or septic systems.
Some users online report that even wipes labelled flushable can still cause pipe clogs over time.
Caution
For external use only. Store in a cool, dry place. Keep out of reach of small children to avoid accidental misuse. If unsure about plumbing compatibility, disposing of wipes in a bin is generally the safer option.
