Composition

Contains:

• Pseudoephedrine → nasal decongestant (sympathomimetic)
• Paracetamol (Acetaminophen) → pain & fever reliever
• Diphenhydramine → antihistamine (sedating)
• Alcohol (small amount in syrup base) → solvent/preservative

Uses / Indications

Used for relief of cold and flu symptoms, including:

• Blocked nose (nasal congestion)
• Runny nose
• Sneezing
• Fever
• Headache
• Body aches
• Mild allergy-type symptoms

Direction for Use

• Take exact dose as directed on label or doctor instruction
• Usually every 6–8 hours
• Do not exceed maximum daily dose
• Avoid combining with other paracetamol-containing medicines
• Shake well before use

Side Effects

Common:

• Drowsiness (diphenhydramine)
• Dry mouth
• Dizziness
• Nausea

From pseudoephedrine:

• Restlessness
• Insomnia
• Fast heartbeat
• Increased blood pressure

From paracetamol overdose:

• Liver damage (serious risk if overused)

Warnings (Important)

• May cause marked drowsiness → avoid driving or alcohol
• Can raise blood pressure and heart rate
• Not suitable for people with:
• Hypertension (especially uncontrolled)
• Heart disease
• Glaucoma
• Enlarged prostate (urinary retention risk)
• Alcohol content may increase sedation and liver stress

Interactions

May interact with:

• Other paracetamol-containing drugs → overdose risk
• Alcohol → increased sedation + liver toxicity
• Sedatives or sleeping pills → excessive drowsiness
• Antidepressants (especially MAO inhibitors) → dangerous BP spikes
• Other decongestants → increased heart rate/BP

Cautions

Use carefully in:

• Elderly patients (confusion, sedation risk)
• Children (dose sensitivity)
• Liver disease
• High blood pressure or heart conditions
• Pregnancy/breastfeeding (only if advised)
