Composition

• Active ingredient: Brimonidine tartrate 2 mg/mL
  (equivalent to 0.2% ophthalmic solution)
• Form: Eye drops (ophthalmic solution)

Indication / Use

Used for:

• Lowering intraocular pressure (IOP)
• Treatment of:
• Open-angle glaucoma
• Ocular hypertension

Direction of Use

• Instill 1 drop into the affected eye(s)
• Usually twice or three times daily as prescribed
• Wash hands before application
• Do not touch the dropper tip
• Leave at least 5 minutes between other eye medications
• Remove contact lenses before use and reinsert after about 15 minutes

Side Effects

Common side effects:

• Eye redness
• Burning or stinging sensation
• Dry eyes
• Blurred vision
• Itching
• Dry mouth
• Headache
• Fatigue or drowsiness

Serious side effects:

• Allergic conjunctivitis
• Eye swelling or pain
• Difficulty breathing
• Irregular heartbeat
• Severe dizziness

Warnings

• Contraindicated in:
• Patients allergic to brimonidine
• Infants and children under 2 years
• Use cautiously in patients with:
• Heart disease
• Depression
• Low blood pressure
• Liver or kidney disease
• Poor blood circulation
• May impair alertness or vision temporarily

Interactions

May interact with:

• MAO inhibitors
• Tricyclic antidepressants
• Antihypertensive medicines
• Beta-blockers
• CNS depressants
• Alcohol and sedatives

Caution

• Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding only if prescribed
• Avoid driving or operating machinery if blurred vision or drowsiness occurs
• Monitor for allergic eye reactions during prolonged use
• Keep bottle tightly closed and avoid contamination of the dropper tip
• Do not stop treatment abruptly without medical advice
