Composition
Capsitop Gel commonly contains:
- Capsaicin 0.025% w/w (from Capsicum oleoresin)
- Diclofenac diethylamine 1.16% w/w
- Levomenthol 1% w/w
- Methyl salicylate 3% w/w
Drug class:
- Topical analgesic + anti-inflammatory gel
Uses / Indications
Used for relief of:
- Muscle pain
- Joint pain
- Back pain
- Neck and shoulder pain
- Sprains and strains
- Tendonitis
- Arthritis-related pain
- Sciatica and muscle stiffness
Direction for Use
- For external use only
- Apply a thin layer to affected area
- Massage gently until absorbed
- Usually applied 3–4 times daily
- Wash hands after application unless treating the hands
- Do not use for more than 2 weeks unless advised by a healthcare professional
Side Effects
Common:
- Burning or warming sensation
- Skin redness
- Itching
- Mild irritation or rash
Less common:
- Skin peeling
- Increased skin sensitivity
Rare but serious:
- Allergic skin reaction
- Asthma-like reactions in NSAID-sensitive people
Warnings
- Avoid contact with:
- Eyes
- Mouth
- Broken skin
- Genital areas
- Do not apply with heating pads or tight bandages
- Stop use if severe burning or irritation occurs
- Avoid excessive sun exposure on treated area
Interactions
Possible interactions/cautions with:
- Other NSAIDs (oral or topical) → increased irritation or NSAID exposure
- Aspirin-sensitive patients → possible allergic reaction
- Other topical pain creams → increased burning/irritation
Systemic interactions are usually low because it acts mainly on the skin.
Cautions
Use carefully in:
- Asthma patients sensitive to NSAIDs
- Pregnancy (especially later pregnancy)
- Breastfeeding (avoid application near breast area)
- Children (safety not well established)
Avoid applying to large body areas or damaged skin.
