- Tadalafil 5 mg

Uses / Indications
Tadalafil 5 mg is mainly used for daily long-term therapy, including:
- Erectile dysfunction (ED) – improves ability to get and maintain erection
- Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) – helps improve urine flow and reduce symptoms like:
- Frequent urination
- Weak urine stream
- Night-time urination
Sometimes used when both ED + prostate symptoms occur together.
Direction for Use
- Usually taken once daily at the same time each day
- Can be taken with or without food
- Works continuously (not just “on demand” like higher doses)
- Do not double dose if one is missed
Side Effects
Common:
- Headache
- Flushing
- Nasal congestion
- Back pain
- Muscle aches
- Indigestion
Less common:
- Dizziness
- Mild drop in blood pressure
Rare but serious:
- Prolonged erection (priapism)
- Sudden vision or hearing loss
- Severe hypotension (very low blood pressure)
Warnings
- Do NOT use with nitrate drugs (e.g., nitroglycerin) → dangerous blood pressure drop
- Avoid excessive alcohol → increases dizziness and low BP risk
- Use cautiously in:
- Heart disease
- Stroke history
- Low blood pressure
- Severe liver or kidney disease
Interactions
May interact with:
- Amlodipine → additive blood pressure lowering
- Alpha-blockers (for prostate/BP)
- Strong antifungals or antibiotics (can increase tadalafil levels)
- Other ED medicines → unsafe additive effects
Cautions
Use carefully in:
- Elderly patients
- Cardiovascular disease
- Patients on multiple BP medications
- Liver or kidney impairment
