Composition
- Clotrimazole
- Drug class: Topical antifungal (imidazole group)
Uses / Indications
Used for fungal skin infections, such as:
- Ringworm (tinea corporis)
- Athlete’s foot (tinea pedis)
- Jock itch (tinea cruris)
- Yeast infections on skin (candidiasis)
- Itchy, red fungal rashes in skin folds
Direction for Use
- For external use only
- Clean and dry affected area first
- Apply a thin layer 2–3 times daily
- Continue treatment for at least 2 weeks (even if symptoms improve early)
- Wash hands after application
Side Effects
Common:
- Mild burning or stinging
- Redness
- Itching at application site
Less common:
- Skin peeling
- Irritation or rash
Rare:
Warnings
- Do NOT use on:
- Eyes
- Mouth
- Deep open wounds
- Avoid stopping early → may cause recurrence of infection
- If no improvement in 1–2 weeks, reassess diagnosis
Interactions / Cautions
- No major drug interactions (topical use)
- Avoid combining with strong steroid creams unless prescribed (can worsen fungal infections if misused)
- Use carefully in:
- Young children
- Pregnancy (generally considered safe but use as directed)
