Composition

Each tablet contains:

  • Paracetamol 500 mg (pain relief & fever reduction)
  • Pseudoephedrine hydrochloride 30 mg (nasal decongestant)

These act together to relieve multiple cold and flu symptoms.


 

Uses / Indications

  • Relief of cold and flu symptoms during the day
  • Blocked or congested nose and sinuses
  • Headache, fever, and sore throat
  • Sinus pain and general “flu-like” discomfort

 

Direction of Use

  • Adults and children over 12 years: usually 1 tablet every 4–6 hours
  • Maximum dose: do not exceed the recommended daily limit (follow leaflet/doctor advice)
  • Short-term use only (generally up to 3–5 days unless advised)
  • Swallow with water

 

Side Effects

Common or possible effects:

  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Dry mouth
  • Nervousness or difficulty sleeping
  • Headache

Less common but serious:

  • Fast heartbeat or palpitations
  • High blood pressure
  • Difficulty passing urine
  • Allergic reactions (rash, swelling)
  • Rare mood changes or hallucinations

 

Warnings / Precautions

  • Contains paracetamol → avoid combining with other paracetamol products (liver risk)
  • Contains pseudoephedrine → can increase blood pressure and heart rate
  • Avoid alcohol (increases side effects and liver strain)
  • Not suitable for people with:
    • Severe high blood pressure or heart disease
    • Severe kidney or liver disease
    • Glaucoma
    • Prostate enlargement
  • Avoid in children under 12 years
  • Do not use with MAO inhibitors (dangerous interaction)

 

Drug Interactions

  • MAO inhibitors (dangerous interaction)
  • Other decongestants (risk of overdose effects)
  • Antidepressants (may increase side effects)
  • Beta-blockers and blood pressure medicines
  • Alcohol, sedatives, and sleeping tablets
  • Other paracetamol-containing medicines

 

Contraindications / Caution

Avoid if:

  • Allergy to paracetamol, pseudoephedrine, or pholcodine
  • Severe hypertension or heart disease
  • Severe kidney impairment
  • Respiratory failure or severe lung disease (risk of mucus retention)
  • Use of MAOIs within last 14 days
  • Taking other sympathomimetic drugs (stimulant/decongestant medicines)
