Composition
Each tablet contains:
- Paracetamol 500 mg (pain relief & fever reduction)
- Pseudoephedrine hydrochloride 30 mg (nasal decongestant)
These act together to relieve multiple cold and flu symptoms.
Uses / Indications
- Relief of cold and flu symptoms during the day
- Blocked or congested nose and sinuses
- Headache, fever, and sore throat
- Sinus pain and general “flu-like” discomfort
Direction of Use
- Adults and children over 12 years: usually 1 tablet every 4–6 hours
- Maximum dose: do not exceed the recommended daily limit (follow leaflet/doctor advice)
- Short-term use only (generally up to 3–5 days unless advised)
- Swallow with water
Side Effects
Common or possible effects:
- Nausea or vomiting
- Dry mouth
- Nervousness or difficulty sleeping
- Headache
Less common but serious:
- Fast heartbeat or palpitations
- High blood pressure
- Difficulty passing urine
- Allergic reactions (rash, swelling)
- Rare mood changes or hallucinations
Warnings / Precautions
- Contains paracetamol → avoid combining with other paracetamol products (liver risk)
- Contains pseudoephedrine → can increase blood pressure and heart rate
- Avoid alcohol (increases side effects and liver strain)
- Not suitable for people with:
- Severe high blood pressure or heart disease
- Severe kidney or liver disease
- Glaucoma
- Prostate enlargement
- Avoid in children under 12 years
- Do not use with MAO inhibitors (dangerous interaction)
Drug Interactions
- MAO inhibitors (dangerous interaction)
- Other decongestants (risk of overdose effects)
- Antidepressants (may increase side effects)
- Beta-blockers and blood pressure medicines
- Alcohol, sedatives, and sleeping tablets
- Other paracetamol-containing medicines
Contraindications / Caution
Avoid if:
- Allergy to paracetamol, pseudoephedrine, or pholcodine
- Severe hypertension or heart disease
- Severe kidney impairment
- Respiratory failure or severe lung disease (risk of mucus retention)
- Use of MAOIs within last 14 days
- Taking other sympathomimetic drugs (stimulant/decongestant medicines)
