Composition
Typical ingredients include:
- Menthol → creates cooling, pain-numbing sensation
- Menthone glycerine acetal → cooling agent
- Alcohol base (ethanol) → helps rapid evaporation and cooling effect
- Propylene glycol, water, nitrogen (as propellant)
It is a non-medicated topical cooling spray (no strong NSAID like diclofenac in it).
Uses / Indications
Used for temporary relief of muscle and joint discomfort, such as:
- Muscle pain after exercise
- Sprains and strains
- Back, neck, and shoulder stiffness
- Minor joint aches
- Sports-related soreness
It works like an “ice pack in a spray” (cold therapy).
Direction for Use
- Shake well before use
- Hold about 15 cm away from skin
- Spray in short bursts on affected area
- Use as needed (several times daily if required)
- Do not spray continuously in one spot for too long
Side Effects
Common:
- Cold burning sensation
- Skin redness
- Mild irritation or tingling
Less common:
- Dry skin
- Sensitivity or itching
Rare:
Warnings
- Do NOT use on:
- Broken skin or open wounds
- Eyes, mouth, or face area
- Highly flammable aerosol → keep away from fire/flames
- Avoid excessive spraying (can irritate skin or cause cold burns)
- Stop if severe irritation occurs
Interactions / Cautions
- Avoid combining with other strong heat or cooling rubs on same area
- Use carefully in:
- Children (skin sensitivity)
- People with very sensitive skin or allergies
- Pregnancy: generally advised only if necessary
