Composition
Drez Powder contains:
- Povidone-iodine → strong antiseptic (kills bacteria, fungi, viruses)
- Metronidazole → antibiotic (especially works on anaerobic bacteria)
- Sucralfate → protective agent that helps wound healing
Uses / Indications
Used for infected or high-risk wounds, such as:
- Cuts and abrasions
- Burns
- Ulcers (diabetic foot ulcers, pressure sores/bed sores)
- Post-surgical wounds
- Infected skin lesions
It helps:
- Kill germs in wounds
- Prevent infection
- Promote faster wound healing
Direction for Use
- For external use only
- Clean and dry the affected area first
- Sprinkle a thin layer of powder on the wound
- Usually used 1–3 times daily or as prescribed
- Can be covered with sterile dressing if needed
Side Effects
Common:
- Mild burning or stinging
- Skin irritation
- Dryness
- Itching or redness
Less common:
Rare:
- Sensitivity to iodine (rash, swelling)
Warnings
- Do NOT use:
- On large areas for long periods without medical supervision
- If allergic to iodine
- Caution in:
- Thyroid disease (iodine absorption risk)
- Deep severe wounds without doctor advice
- Avoid prolonged use in infants or pregnant women unless prescribed
Interactions / Cautions
- Avoid using with other strong antiseptics on the same area unless advised
- Do not combine multiple iodine-containing products
- Use carefully in patients with:
- Thyroid disorders
- Kidney disease (rare with prolonged use)
