Composition
- Active ingredient: Diclofenac sodium 0.1% w/v (1 mg/mL)
- Class: Ophthalmic NSAID (Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug)
- Other ingredients (may vary):
- Polyoxyl 35 castor oil
- Boric acid
- Tromethamine
- Sorbic acid
- Disodium edetate
- Purified water
Indication / Use
Used for:
- Eye pain and inflammation
- Especially after:
- Eye surgery (e.g., cataract surgery)
- Laser eye procedures
- Helps reduce:
It is not an antibiotic and not for infection, but for inflammation control.
Direction of Use
- Instill 1–2 drops into affected eye(s)
- Usually up to 4 times daily (as prescribed)
- Wash hands before use
- Avoid touching dropper tip
- If using other eye drops, wait 5–10 minutes between them
Side Effects
Common:
- Stinging or burning sensation
- Temporary blurred vision
- Watery eyes
Less common:
- Eye irritation
- Increased sensitivity to light
- Mild discomfort or redness
Rare:
- Allergic reaction (swelling, severe redness, itching)
Warnings
- Avoid use if allergic to:
- Diclofenac
- Other NSAIDs (e.g., ibuprofen, aspirin sensitivity)
- Use cautiously if:
- You have corneal disease or dry eye problems
- May be harmful in late pregnancy
- Stop use if pain or irritation worsens
Interactions
- Minimal systemic interactions (low absorption)
- Use caution with:
- Other NSAID eye drops
- Multiple anti-inflammatory eye medications
- Always space eye drops by at least 5 minutes
Caution
- Only for short-term use
- Do NOT use for:
- Eye infections (bacterial/viral)
- Routine redness or allergy
- May slow healing of the eye surface if overused
- Temporary blurred vision → avoid driving immediately after use
- If pain persists after surgery, follow-up is needed
