Composition
Each 10 ml contains:
- Sodium alginate 500 mg → forms a protective “raft” barrier on top of stomach contents
- Sodium bicarbonate 213 mg → neutralises excess stomach acid
- Calcium carbonate 325 mg → antacid (further acid neutralisation)
It works physically (not systemically absorbed) to stop acid reflux and soothe the stomach.
Uses / Indications
Used for symptoms of acid reflux and indigestion, including:
- Heartburn (burning in chest)
- Acid regurgitation (sour taste in mouth)
- Indigestion after meals
- Bloating and discomfort
- Gastro-oesophageal reflux (GERD)
Direction of Use
- Adults and children 12 years and above
- Usual dose: 10–20 ml after meals and at bedtime
- Can be taken up to 4 times daily
- Shake well before use
- Short-term use; seek advice if symptoms persist beyond a few days–1 week
Side Effects
Common:
- Bloating
- Flatulence (gas)
- Constipation
- Mild stomach cramps
Rare but important:
- Allergic reaction (rash, itching, breathing difficulty)
Warnings / Precautions
- Contains sodium (salt) → caution in:
- High blood pressure
- Heart disease
- Kidney disease
- Do not use long-term without medical advice
- Seek help if symptoms persist or worsen
- Overuse may cause electrolyte imbalance in sensitive patients
Drug Interactions
- May reduce absorption of some medicines if taken at the same time
(e.g. iron, antibiotics, thyroid medicine)
- Separate by at least 2 hours from other oral medicines when possible
Contraindications / Caution
Avoid or seek medical advice if:
- Allergy to alginates or antacid ingredients
- Severe kidney disease
- Strict low-sodium diet (heart/kidney conditions)
