Composition
Each capsule contains:
- Paracetamol 500 mg → pain and fever relief
- Phenylephrine hydrochloride 6.1 mg → nasal decongestant (unblocks nose/sinuses)
- Caffeine 25 mg → stimulant that helps reduce tiredness
This is a multi-symptom cold and flu medicine.
Uses / Indications
- Cold and flu symptoms
- Blocked or runny nose
- Sinus pressure and congestion
- Headache and fever
- Sore throat discomfort
- Fatigue / drowsiness during illness
Direction of Use
- Adults and children 16 years and over
- Usually 2 capsules every 4–6 hours as needed
- Maximum 8 capsules in 24 hours
- Short-term use only (max about 3–5 days unless advised)
- Swallow whole with water
- Do not exceed dose (contains paracetamol)
Side Effects
Common:
- Difficulty sleeping (caffeine effect)
- Nervousness or restlessness
- Nausea or stomach upset
- Dry mouth
- Dizziness or headache
Serious (less common):
- Increased blood pressure
- Fast heartbeat (palpitations)
- Anxiety or agitation
- Skin rash or allergy
- Liver damage risk in overdose (paracetamol)
Warnings / Precautions
- Contains paracetamol → do NOT combine with other paracetamol medicines
- Contains phenylephrine → may raise blood pressure
- Contains caffeine → may cause insomnia or jitteriness
- Avoid alcohol (increases liver risk)
- Use cautiously in:
- High blood pressure
- Heart disease
- Diabetes
- Thyroid disorders
- Glaucoma
- Prostate enlargement
- Do NOT use with MAO inhibitors (dangerous interaction)
Drug Interactions
- MAO inhibitors (dangerous blood pressure rise)
- Other decongestants
- Antidepressants (SSRIs / tricyclics)
- Blood pressure medicines (reduced effect)
- Alcohol
- Other paracetamol-containing products
Contraindications / Caution
Avoid if:
- Allergy to paracetamol, phenylephrine, or caffeine
- Severe hypertension or heart disease
- Severe liver or kidney disease
- Hyperthyroidism
- Glaucoma
- Recent MAOI use (within 14 days)
