Composition
This product comes in two different capsule types:
Day capsules
- Paracetamol 500 mg → pain and fever relief
- Phenylephrine hydrochloride 6.1 mg → nasal decongestant (unblocks nose/sinuses)
- Caffeine 25 mg → stimulant (reduces tiredness, improves alertness)
Night capsules
- Paracetamol 500 mg
- Phenylephrine hydrochloride 6.1 mg
(no caffeine → less stimulation, better for sleep)
Uses / Indications
- Cold and flu symptoms
- Blocked or runny nose
- Sinus pressure and congestion
- Headache and fever
- Sore throat discomfort
- Daytime fatigue (day capsules)
- Night-time congestion affecting sleep
Direction of Use
- Adults and children 16 years and over
- Day: 2 capsules every 4–6 hours (max 6 day capsules/day)
- Night: 2 capsules at bedtime
- Maximum total: 8 capsules in 24 hours
- Short-term use only (usually max 3–5 days)
- Swallow whole with water, do not chew
Side Effects
Common:
- Insomnia (from caffeine in day capsules)
- Nervousness or restlessness
- Nausea or stomach upset
- Dry mouth
- Dizziness or headache
Less common but important:
- Increased blood pressure
- Fast heartbeat (palpitations)
- Anxiety or agitation
- Allergic reactions (rash, swelling)
- Liver damage risk in overdose (paracetamol)
Warnings / Precautions
- Contains paracetamol → avoid other paracetamol medicines (liver risk)
- Contains phenylephrine → may raise blood pressure
- Contains caffeine → may cause insomnia or jitteriness
- Avoid alcohol
- Use cautiously in:
- High blood pressure
- Heart disease
- Diabetes
- Thyroid disorders
- Glaucoma
- Prostate enlargement
- Do NOT use with MAO inhibitors (dangerous interaction)
Drug Interactions
- MAO inhibitors (dangerous hypertension reaction)
- Other decongestants
- Antidepressants (SSRIs / tricyclics)
- Blood pressure medicines
- Alcohol
- Other paracetamol-containing products
Contraindications / Caution
Avoid if:
- Allergy to paracetamol, phenylephrine, or caffeine
- Severe hypertension or heart disease
- Severe liver or kidney disease
- Hyperthyroidism
- Glaucoma
- Recent MAOI use (within 14 days)
