Composition

Each capsule contains:

  • Ibuprofen 200 mg

It is a soft liquid-filled capsule (LiquiCap) designed to release ibuprofen quickly in the stomach for faster pain relief.

Excipients (inactive ingredients) may include:

  • Gelatin (capsule shell)
  • Sorbitol
  • Potassium compounds
  • Colouring agents (varies by brand batch)

 

Uses / Indications

Used for fast relief of pain, inflammation, and fever, including:

  • Headache and migraine
  • Period pain
  • Toothache
  • Back and muscle pain
  • Joint pain (sprains, strains)
  • Cold and flu aches and fever

“Express” means it is designed to act faster than standard ibuprofen tablets.


 

Direction of Use

  • Adults and children 12 years and over
  • Usual dose:
    • 1–2 capsules every 4–6 hours as needed
  • Maximum:
    • 6 capsules (1200 mg ibuprofen) in 24 hours
  • Take with water
  • Do not chew capsules
  • Short-term use only (a few days unless advised)

 

Side Effects

Common:

  • Stomach upset / heartburn
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Dizziness
  • Headache
  • Mild diarrhoea or bloating

Less common but important:

  • Stomach ulcers or bleeding
  • Increased blood pressure
  • Fluid retention (swelling)
  • Kidney strain (especially if dehydrated)
  • Worsening asthma in sensitive people

 

Warnings / Precautions

  • Take with food to protect stomach
  • Avoid if you have:
    • stomach ulcer or bleeding history
    • severe kidney, liver, or heart disease
    • NSAID allergy or aspirin-sensitive asthma
  • Do NOT combine with:
    • other NSAIDs (e.g. diclofenac, aspirin high dose)
  • Avoid alcohol (increases stomach bleeding risk)
  • Use caution if:
    • dehydrated
    • elderly
    • high blood pressure or heart disease

 

Drug Interactions

  • Blood thinners (warfarin, aspirin) → bleeding risk
  • Other NSAIDs → overdose risk
  • Blood pressure medicines → reduced effect
  • Diuretics → kidney stress
  • Steroids / SSRIs → increased stomach bleeding risk
  • Alcohol → increased GI irritation

 

Contraindications / Caution

Avoid if:

  • Allergy to ibuprofen or NSAIDs
  • Active or history of stomach ulcer/bleeding
  • Severe heart, kidney, or liver disease
  • Last trimester of pregnancy
