Composition

• Sodium hyaluronate (usually 0.1%–0.15%)
• Strong lubricant (artificial tear agent)
• Binds water to the eye surface and improves tear film stability
• Plant extracts (varies by product line)
• Mild soothing effect (exact extracts depend on formulation/region)
• Buffered sterile solution
• Preservative (may be present or absent depending on single-dose/multi-dose type)

Indication / Use

Used for:

• Tired eyes
• Dry eyes / ocular dryness
• Irritation caused by:
• Screen use
• Driving/reading strain
• Air conditioning
• Wind, dust, pollution

Direction of Use

• Instill 1–2 drops in each eye
• Use as needed (multiple times daily is safe)
• Wash hands before use
• Avoid touching dropper tip
• Can be used with contact lenses (only if label states “contact lens friendly”)

Side Effects

Common:

• Temporary blurred vision
• Mild stinging on instillation
• Mild irritation or watery eyes

Rare:

• Allergy to plant extracts or preservatives
• Persistent redness or discomfort

Warnings

• Do not use if solution becomes:
• Cloudy
• Discoloured
• Contaminated
• Stop if irritation worsens
• Seek advice if symptoms persist despite regular use

Interactions

• No significant drug interactions
• If using other eye drops:
• Wait 5–10 minutes between drops
• Medicated drops first, lubricants last

Caution

• Sodium hyaluronate drops are generally well tolerated even with frequent use
• Plant extracts may rarely cause sensitivity in allergic individuals
• If “tired eyes” are frequent, consider underlying causes:
• Dry eye disease
• Screen-related eye strain (digital eye strain)
• Poor tear quality or meibomian gland dysfunction
• Persistent symptoms should be evaluated rather than relying only on lubricants
