Composition:
Each chewable tablet contains Bismuth Subsalicylate 262 mg.
Use / Indication:
Used for the relief of:
- Upset stomach
- Indigestion
- Heartburn
- Nausea
- Diarrhea (including traveller's diarrhea)
- Excess gas and stomach discomfort
Direction of Use:
Adults and children aged 12 years and above: Chew the tablets thoroughly before swallowing. Use as directed on the product label or by a healthcare professional. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.
Side Effects:
- Temporary darkening of the tongue
- Temporary black or dark stools
- Constipation
- Nausea (uncommon)
- Allergic reactions (rare)
Warnings:
- Do not use if allergic to aspirin or other salicylates.
- Not recommended for children or teenagers recovering from viral infections due to the risk of Reye's syndrome.
- Seek medical advice if symptoms persist, worsen, or if diarrhea lasts more than 2 days.
- Do not exceed the recommended dose.
Drug Interactions:
- Anticoagulants (e.g., warfarin)
- Aspirin and other salicylate-containing products
- Methotrexate
- Certain medicines used for diabetes
- Tetracycline antibiotics (may reduce absorption)
Caution:
- Use with caution in individuals with bleeding disorders, stomach ulcers, kidney impairment, or gout.
- Consult a healthcare professional before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
- Temporary black stools and tongue discoloration are harmless and usually resolve after stopping the medication.
