Composition
The children’s (Enfant) form of Rhinathiol contains:
- Carbocisteine (mucolytic agent)
This is a mucus-thinning medicine used to make phlegm less thick and easier to cough out.
Excipients (may vary by country/brand):
- Sucrose (sugar)
- Flavouring agents (fruit/vanilla type)
- Preservatives (e.g., parabens in some formulations)
- Colouring agents
Uses / Indications
- Chesty (productive) cough with mucus
- Thick or sticky phlegm in the chest
- Bronchitis (acute cough with mucus)
- Respiratory infections with excess mucus
- Helps clear airways by thinning secretions
Direction of Use

- Children 2–5 years: small doses (often 2–3 times daily)
- Children 5–12 years: regular dosing 2–3 times daily
- Usually taken after food
- Measure using dosing spoon/cup
- Short-term use (a few days to 5 days unless prescribed)
Side Effects

Rare but serious:
