Composition
- Amylmetacresol 0.6 mg
- 2,4-Dichlorobenzyl alcohol 1.2 mg
- Honey (natural flavour/excipient)
- Liquid sucrose
- Liquid glucose
- Peppermint oil
- Lemon oil (flavouring)
- Menthol
- Wheat starch (contains gluten)
- Sulphites
These ingredients provide mild antiseptic action plus soothing and demulcent (coating) effects on the throat.
Uses / Indications
- Sore throat
- Throat irritation or scratchiness
- Mouth and throat infections
- Mild pain when swallowing
- Helps soothe and reduce discomfort from minor infections
Direction of Use
- Adults and children over 6 years
- 1 lozenge every 2–3 hours as needed
- Maximum 12 lozenges in 24 hours
- Dissolve slowly in the mouth (do not chew or swallow whole)
Side Effects
Usually mild and uncommon:
- Mouth or tongue irritation
- Burning or tingling sensation
- Nausea or stomach upset
- Diarrhea
- Allergic reactions (rash, swelling, itching in rare cases)
Warnings / Precautions
- Not suitable for children under 6 years
- Contains sugar (use caution in diabetes)
- Contains wheat (gluten) and sulphites (may trigger sensitivity)
- Stop and seek medical advice if symptoms last more than 3 days
- Avoid if allergic to any ingredient
- Use caution in pregnancy or breastfeeding
Drug Interactions
- No clinically significant interactions known
- Still avoid combining multiple antiseptic lozenges excessively
Contraindications / Caution
- Allergy to amylmetacresol or 2,4-dichlorobenzyl alcohol
- Fructose or sugar absorption disorders
- Wheat (gluten) sensitivity or coeliac disease
- Sucrose intolerance conditions
