Composition
Tears Naturale is an artificial tear (lubricant eye drop). It commonly contains:
- Dextran 70
- Hypromellose (Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose)
(Some versions may vary slightly, e.g., Tears Naturale II or Forte)
These act like natural tears to keep the eye moist.

- Ophthalmic lubricant (artificial tears)
Uses / Indications
Used for:
- Dry eyes (low tear production)
- Burning or irritation of eyes
- Eye discomfort from:
- Wind, dust, smoke
- Screen use
- Contact lens dryness (sometimes)
It works by moisturizing and lubricating the eye surface to reduce dryness.
Direction for Use
- For eye use only
- Usually 1–2 drops in affected eye(s)
- Can be used as needed (several times daily)
- Wash hands before use
- Do not touch dropper tip to eye or skin
- Wait 5–10 minutes if using other eye drops
Side Effects
Common:
- Temporary blurred vision
- Mild burning or stinging
- Eye irritation or redness
- Watery eyes
Less common:
- Eye pain
- Sensitivity to light
Rare but important:
- Allergic reaction (swelling, severe redness)
Warnings
- Do NOT use to treat eye infections
- Stop and seek care if:
- Severe pain
- Worsening redness
- Vision changes
- Avoid contamination of bottle (can cause infection)
- Remove contact lenses before use (if applicable)
Interactions / Cautions
- No major drug interactions (mainly local action)
- Avoid mixing immediately with other eye medications
- Use preservative-free versions if eyes are very sensitive or dry
