Composition
Typical formulation of Vizulize Advanced Multi-Purpose Solution includes:
- Sodium chloride & potassium chloride – salt balance (mimics tears)
- Polyhexanide (PHMB) – disinfectant/antimicrobial agent
- Poloxamer – cleaning agent that removes deposits
- Disodium edetate (EDTA) – enhances cleaning effectiveness
- Hypromellose (HPMC) – lubricates and improves comfort
- Sodium hyaluronate (in some versions) – strong moisture-binding lubricant
- Sodium phosphate buffer – maintains pH close to natural tears
It is a multi-purpose disinfecting solution (MPS) for soft and sometimes hard contact lenses.
Indication / Use
Used for:
- Cleaning contact lenses
- Disinfecting lenses (kills bacteria & microorganisms)
- Removing protein and lipid deposits
- Rinsing and storing lenses overnight
- Improving lens comfort and hydration
Suitable for:
- Soft contact lenses
- Silicone hydrogel lenses
- Some versions also for hard/RGP lenses
Direction of Use
Daily routine:
- Wash and dry hands
- Place lens in palm
- Add 3–4 drops of solution
- Gently rub both sides for ~20 seconds
- Rinse with fresh solution
- Place in lens case filled with fresh solution
- Soak for at least 4 hours or overnight before wearing
Important rules:
- Always use fresh solution (never reuse or top up)
- Do NOT use tap water
- Clean lens case regularly
- Discard solution after each use cycle
Side Effects
Common (usually due to sensitivity or misuse):
- Eye stinging or burning
- Temporary blurred vision after insertion
- Mild redness or irritation
- Dryness or discomfort
Less common:
- Allergic reaction to preservatives (PHMB)
- Persistent irritation if lenses not rinsed properly
- Protein buildup if cleaning is inadequate
Warnings
- Do NOT put un-rinsed solution directly into eyes as “eye drops”
- Do NOT use if allergic to any ingredient
- Do NOT use if solution:
- Is expired
- Bottle seal is broken
- Avoid contamination of bottle tip
- Stop use if:
- Eyes become painful or very red
- Vision becomes blurred or worsens after lens insertion
- If irritation persists, discontinue lenses and seek eye care
Interactions / Compatibility
- Not a medication → no drug interactions
- May interact (functionally) with:
- Other lens solutions (do not mix brands in same case)
- Peroxide systems (must not mix directly)
- Some lens materials may react differently (e.g., silicone hydrogel compatibility varies)
Caution
- This is NOT an eye drop for dry eyes or redness
- Must not be used as a lubricant for eyes
- Improper use can cause:
- Chemical irritation
- Severe burning (if not rinsed properly)
- If you experience repeated discomfort:
- Check lens fit
- Consider preservative sensitivity
- Consider switching solution type (e.g., peroxide system)
- Replace bottle within recommended time after opening (often ~3 months depending on label)
