Composition
Each tablet typically contains:
- Taurine – 500 mg
- N-Acetylcysteine (NAC) – 150 mg
These are antioxidants that help reduce oxidative stress in the body, especially in kidney tissues.
Use / Indication
Indus Nefropat is a nephroprotective (kidney-support) dietary supplement, mainly used for:
- Support in chronic kidney disease (CKD)
- Diabetic nephropathy (kidney damage due to diabetes)
- Reducing oxidative stress in kidneys
- Slowing progression of kidney function decline (supportive role)
- General kidney health support in at-risk patients
It is supportive therapy only and not a cure for kidney failure.
Direction of Use
- Usually: 1 tablet 1–2 times daily
- Take after food
- Swallow whole with water
- Use only for the duration advised by a doctor
- Dose may change depending on kidney condition
Side Effects
Most people tolerate it well. Possible side effects include:
- Nausea or vomiting
- Stomach discomfort
- Diarrhea
- Skin rash or itching
- Headache or mild dizziness
- Rare allergic reactions
Warning
- Use only under medical supervision if you have:
- Moderate to severe kidney disease
- Diabetes or multiple chronic illnesses
- Not a replacement for dialysis or prescribed kidney treatment
- Avoid self-medication in kidney disease
- Stop and seek care if:
- Swelling worsens
- Severe vomiting or allergic reaction occurs
Interaction
May interact with:
- Cough suppressants (can reduce mucus clearance due to NAC)
- Some antibiotics (spacing may be required)
- Other antioxidant supplements (additive effects)
- Alcohol (may worsen oxidative stress and reduce benefit)
Caution
- Asthma patients may need caution (NAC can rarely worsen bronchospasm)
- Kidney patients should use only under nephrologist advice
- Not meant for immediate symptom relief—works slowly over time
- Should be part of a broader kidney-care plan (diet, BP control, diabetes control)
