Use / Indications
Used for:
- Allergic rhinitis (hay fever)

- Sometimes prescribed as an adjunct in asthma management and allergy-related airway inflammation.
Mechanism of Action
- Levocetirizine blocks histamine, reducing sneezing, itching, and watery eyes.
- Montelukast blocks leukotrienes, reducing inflammation and swelling in the airways and nasal passages.
Direction of Use
Adults:
- Usually 1 tablet once daily, often taken in the evening or as prescribed.
Instructions:
- Can be taken with or without food.
- Swallow whole with water.
- Use regularly during allergy seasons for maximum benefit.

- Sleepiness/drowsiness
- Dry mouth
- Headache
- Fatigue
- Nausea
- Diarrhea
- Abdominal pain
- Sore throat
- Skin rash
Serious Side Effects
Seek medical attention if you develop:
- Severe allergic reaction
- Swelling of face or throat
- Difficulty breathing
- Severe skin rash
- Mood or behaviour changes
- Depression or suicidal thoughts (rare but important with montelukast)
Warnings
Do NOT use if:
- Allergic to levocetirizine, montelukast, or any ingredient in the tablet.
Important warnings:
- May cause drowsiness.
- Avoid alcohol if it increases sleepiness.
- Not intended for relief of an acute asthma attack.
- Use cautiously in patients with a history of psychiatric or mood disorders.
Drug Interactions
Use cautiously with:
- Alcohol
- Sleeping tablets
- Sedatives
- Anti-anxiety medicines
- Other antihistamines
- Certain epilepsy medicines (e.g., phenytoin, carbamazepine) that may affect montelukast levels.
Cautions
- Assess your response before driving or operating machinery.
- Use cautiously in kidney disease.
- Do not exceed the prescribed dose.
- Inform your doctor if you experience unusual mood changes, nightmares, anxiety, or depression.
