Composition

Nexcofer capsules are a haematinic (iron supplement) containing nutrients needed for blood formation. Common ingredients include:
• Ferric Ammonium Citrate (source of iron)
• Folic Acid
• Vitamin B12
• Other vitamins and minerals depending on formulation.

 

Uses / Indications

Used for:
• Treatment and prevention of iron-deficiency anaemia
• Increasing red blood cell production
• Managing fatigue, weakness, and low iron levels
• Supporting pregnancy and nutritional deficiencies.

 

Directions for Use

Usually 1 capsule once or twice daily after meals, or as prescribed by a doctor.
• Swallow with water; do not crush or chew.
• It may be taken with vitamin C or fruit juice to improve iron absorption

 

Side Effects

• Nausea or stomach discomfort

• Constipation or diarrhea

• Dark or black stools (common with iron supplements)

• Metallic taste in the mouth

• Occasionally vomiting or abdominal pain

 

Warnings / Interactions / Cautions

• Do not exceed the recommended dose.
• Use cautiously in patients with peptic ulcers or iron overload disorders.
• Iron supplements may interact with antacids, tetracycline antibiotics, quinolone antibiotics, and calcium supplements.
• Keep out of reach of children (iron overdose can be dangerous).
• Pregnant or breastfeeding women should take it only under medical advice.
