Composition

• Chlorpheniramine Maleate — usually 2 mg per 5 mL

Uses

• Relief of allergy symptoms such as:
• Sneezing
• Runny nose
• Itching
• Watery eyes
• Skin rashes
• Hives (urticaria)
• Insect bite reactions
• Used in:
• Hay fever
• Allergic rhinitis
• Common cold–related allergy symptoms
• Food or drug allergies

Direction of Use

• Shake well before use
• Measure dose with measuring spoon/cup
• Usually:
• Children and adults: dose depends on age and doctor’s advice
• Can be taken with or without food
• Do not exceed recommended dose

Side Effects

Common side effects:

• Drowsiness
• Dizziness
• Dry mouth
• Blurred vision
• Nausea
• Constipation

Less common:

• Difficulty urinating
• Restlessness (especially in children)
• Confusion (especially in elderly people)
• Allergic reactions

Warnings / Interaction / Caution

• May cause sleepiness; avoid driving or operating machinery
• Avoid alcohol while using this medicine
• Use cautiously in:
• Asthma
• Glaucoma
• Enlarged prostate
• Liver disease
• Epilepsy
• May interact with:
• Sedatives
• Sleeping tablets
• Antidepressants
• Other antihistamines
• Do not use in very young children unless prescribed
• Use exact dose to avoid overdose
• Store in a cool, dry place away from sunlight
