Composition

• Salbutamol (Albuterol) 0.1 mg (100 micrograms) per metered dose.
• Short-acting β2-adrenergic agonist (SABA) bronchodilator.

Use / Indications

• Relief of acute asthma symptoms.
• Prevention and treatment of bronchospasm.
• Symptomatic treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
• Relief of wheezing, chest tightness, cough, and shortness of breath.

Directions for Use

• Shake inhaler well before use.
• Inhale as prescribed by a healthcare professional.
• Commonly used as 1–2 puffs when symptoms occur or before exercise if exercise-induced bronchospasm is anticipated.
• Hold breath for about 10 seconds after inhalation, then exhale slowly.

Side Effects

• Tremor (shakiness)
• Headache
• Increased heart rate (tachycardia)
• Palpitations
• Nervousness
• Dizziness
• Muscle cramps (less common)

Warnings

• Excessive use may indicate poorly controlled asthma and requires medical review.

Interactions

• Beta-blockers (e.g., metoprolol, propranolol) may reduce the effect of salbutamol.
