Composition
Each mL contains:
- Tobramycin 0.3% (3 mg/mL)
- Dexamethasone 0.1% (1 mg/mL)

Use / Indications
Used for:
- Bacterial eye infections with inflammation
- Bacterial conjunctivitis
- Blepharitis
- Keratitis (non-viral)
- Post-operative eye inflammation
- Prevention and treatment of inflammation after eye surgery (e.g., cataract surgery)
Mechanism of Action
- Tobramycin kills susceptible bacteria causing eye infection.
- Dexamethasone reduces inflammation, redness, swelling, and irritation.
Direction of Use
Typical dosage:
- 1–2 drops into affected eye(s) every 4–6 hours
- Severe cases:
- May be used every 2 hours during the first 24–48 hours, then gradually reduced
Instructions:
- Shake well before use
- Wash hands before application
- Avoid touching dropper tip
- Wait about 5 minutes between different eye medications
- Press inner corner of the eye for 1 minute after instillation to reduce systemic absorption
- Remove contact lenses before use and reinsert after at least 15 minutes
Common Side Effects
- Burning or stinging
- Eye irritation
- Redness
- Itching
- Blurred vision
- Eyelid swelling
- Watery eyes
- Sensitivity to light
- Bitter taste occasionally
Serious Side Effects
Especially with prolonged use:
- Increased intraocular pressure (glaucoma)
- Cataract formation
- Optic nerve damage
- Delayed wound healing
- Secondary fungal, bacterial, or viral infections
- Severe allergic reactions
- Vision changes or halos around lights
Warnings
Do NOT use in:
- Viral eye infections (e.g., herpes simplex, varicella)
- Fungal eye infections
- Untreated mycobacterial eye infections
- Allergy to tobramycin, dexamethasone, or aminoglycosides
Important warnings:
- Long-term steroid use can increase eye pressure
- Steroids may mask worsening infections
- Eye pressure monitoring is recommended if used longer than 10 days
Drug Interactions
Use cautiously with:
- Other steroid eye medications
- Oral/systemic steroids (e.g., prednisone)
- Other aminoglycoside antibiotics
- Immunosuppressive medications
- CYP3A4 inhibitors may increase steroid effects in susceptible patients
Cautions
- Temporary blurred vision may impair driving
- Avoid prolonged unsupervised use
- Avoid wearing contact lenses during active infection
- Use cautiously in glaucoma patients
- Use cautiously in diabetes due to increased infection risk
- Discard bottle according to manufacturer guidance after opening
