Composition

  • Miconazole Nitrate BP 2% w/w
  • Drug class: Topical antifungal (imidazole antifungal)

 

Uses / Indications

Used for treatment of:

  • Athlete’s foot
  • Ringworm
  • Jock itch
  • Sweat rash
  • Yeast/fungal skin infections
  • Some fungal nail infections

 

Direction for Use

  • For external use only
  • Clean and dry the affected area
  • Apply a thin layer twice daily
  • Continue treatment for 2–6 weeks depending on infection severity
  • Continue for at least one week after symptoms disappear

 

Side Effects

Common side effects:

  • Burning
  • Itching
  • Redness
  • Skin irritation at the application site

 

Rare serious effects:

  • Severe allergic skin reaction
  • Swelling or rash

 

Warnings

  • Avoid contact with:
    • Eyes
    • Mouth
    • Open wounds
  • Do not use excessively or on large damaged skin areas without medical advice

 

Interactions

Topical miconazole has few interactions, but caution with:

  • Warfarin
  • Certain oral medicines metabolized by the liver

Large or prolonged use may increase absorption and interaction risk.


 

Cautions

Use cautiously in:

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding women
  • Children
  • People allergic to imidazole antifungals

Stop use and seek medical advice if irritation worsens or infection does not improve.
