Composition
- Miconazole Nitrate BP 2% w/w
- Drug class: Topical antifungal (imidazole antifungal)
Uses / Indications
Used for treatment of:
- Athlete’s foot
- Ringworm
- Jock itch
- Sweat rash
- Yeast/fungal skin infections
- Some fungal nail infections
Direction for Use
- For external use only
- Clean and dry the affected area
- Apply a thin layer twice daily
- Continue treatment for 2–6 weeks depending on infection severity
- Continue for at least one week after symptoms disappear
Side Effects
Common side effects:
- Burning
- Itching
- Redness
- Skin irritation at the application site
Rare serious effects:
- Severe allergic skin reaction
- Swelling or rash
Warnings
- Avoid contact with:
- Do not use excessively or on large damaged skin areas without medical advice
Interactions
Topical miconazole has few interactions, but caution with:
- Warfarin
- Certain oral medicines metabolized by the liver
Large or prolonged use may increase absorption and interaction risk.
Cautions
Use cautiously in:
- Pregnant or breastfeeding women
- Children
- People allergic to imidazole antifungals
Stop use and seek medical advice if irritation worsens or infection does not improve.
