Composition
- 100% Eucalyptus oil (pharmaceutical grade / BP grade)
- Main active component:
- 1,8-Cineole (Eucalyptol) ~70–90%
- Other natural terpenes:
- Alpha-pinene
- Beta-pinene
- Limonene
- Other monoterpenes
It is a pure essential oil (not diluted) used for aromatherapy and external application.
Indication / Use
Used for:
- Relief of cold, cough, catarrh (blocked nose)
- Sinus congestion and respiratory discomfort
- Headache and mental refreshment (aromatherapy)
- Muscle and joint pain (when diluted and applied externally)
- Mild antiseptic and decongestant effects
Direction of Use
- Inhalation (common use):
- Add a few drops to hot water and inhale steam
- Or use in a diffuser/vaporizer
- Topical use (skin):
- MUST be diluted in a carrier oil (e.g., coconut or olive oil)
- Usually 2–3 drops in carrier oil before applying
- Bath use:
- Few drops mixed into bath water (properly diluted)
❗ Never use undiluted on skin or inhale excessively.
Side Effects
Common:
- Skin burning or irritation (if not diluted)
- Eye irritation if exposed vapors or splash
- Nose/throat irritation during strong inhalation
Serious (usually from misuse/ingestion):
- Nausea, vomiting
- Dizziness, weakness
- Breathing difficulty
- Confusion or drowsiness
- Seizures (in severe overdose)
👉 Even small amounts swallowed can be dangerous.
Warnings
- FOR EXTERNAL USE ONLY
- Do NOT ingest (swallowing can be toxic)
- Keep away from:
- Children (especially under 2 years)
- Pets (very sensitive respiratory systems)
- Avoid contact with eyes → can cause strong irritation or injury
- Always dilute before skin application
- Do not use on broken or inflamed skin
Interactions
(Not drug interactions in the usual sense, but important cautions)
- May increase sedation-like effects if combined with CNS depressants (in heavy exposure)
- Can irritate lungs more in people with:
- May affect blood sugar control in high exposure situations (rare)
